Kidrobot Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback
Kidrobot is a producer and retailer of designer toys, vinyl art toys and collectibles that was acquired in November 2014 by National Entertainment Collectibles Association Inc. after the company almost went bankrupt. Frank Kozik joined the company as creative director that year. In September 2008, there was a report that a film based on the toy merchandise was in development.
Former Employee - Artist says"A lot of cons. Way to many to go on with. Over all kidrobot can be a great company but not under Neca and the owner of it. The owner is slowly pulling this company down. The owner is very cheep and doesn't know anything about toys. Bad ideas come from him and they are laughable. The work life balance is awful and project are always a mess. No direction and no goals in mind as a company. Recently most of all staff was laid off trying to keep the company going. Before that people were leaving left and right because it was so bad. I used to know 25 plus people and now I know 3."
Former Employee - Graphic Designer says"The problem isn't with Kidrobot, it's with NECA (Owner of Kidrobot). The CEO Joel is a grimy, cheap, and a scum bag who will steal your money and not think twice about it. They kept my accrued PTO which is in our policy to payout and illegal in Colorado. The pay is depressingly low, low enough that people wont take positions. The turn around for a company is quick. I was there a little over a year. I saw 3 people get fired, a round of layoffs and countless, talented people leave. If you work here count on working in a disorganized management style that is micro managed by a boss who wont shake hands with Kidrobot employees or introduce him self at all. I heard his voice once out of the year and 6 months I worked there. I would also count on looking for another job. He will probably close this place with in a couple months."
Former Employee - Art Director says"Management is inexperienced and lazy. This causes insecurity. I was often yelled at, sworn at, yelled at, even in meetings for asking questions relating to my work. Sadly, this bullying behavior is creating sycophants who can be ruthless about their own survival. It's like a bad reality show. Pay is low. Ideas for new products are abysmal and tasteless. You will be overworked and underpaid. You will be punished for asking even completely relevant questions. This is not a normal company. In any way. Laziness and Narcissism are the rule and you can only try to survive by flying under the radar or aligning yourself with the incompetent management. The sad fact is, you won't make it. Against reality-denying management you stand no chance. Eventually they will turn on you. "Kidrobot does not provide coffee or tea" - Seriously. Cheap doesn't begin to describe it. It's pathological. Sinking ship - after years of turnover there were recently layoffs and people continue to leave. Driving factor in decisions is cost."
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"Upper management is the biggest problem at this company. The owner of this company does not care about company operations or employee well being and will most likely cause Kidrobot to go out of business due to poor business decisions. On top of that, the office environment was tense and unnecessarily secretive and many employees were often worried about job security. Upper management laid off 90% of the company abruptly just before the holiday season and essentially cut out all departments except one to try to run Kidrobot as an inefficient shell of what it was. It is doubtful that they will ever be hiring again but if there is ever a position posted, I would highly recommend NOT applying. Save yourself the frustration and psychological taxation."
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"Bad upper management. No organization. Owner doesn’t care about anyone and thinks he knows better than anyone he hires so does not listen or trust his employees. Hires people because of their name within the industry but does not realize that they don’t actually know what they’re doing. Treats vendors poorly and takes advantage of a “good” opportunity. Many secrets within the business that are immoral and wrong. No bonuses or pay raises and they do not match 401k. Many layoffs and irrational firings without a plan or strategy for the future."
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"No organization, petty office disputes, no money"
Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says"Leadership mostly only cares about long lunches & leaving work early to train for personal sporting glory, rather than the wellbeing of the company. The works habits of the executive team are a long standing joke within the company, all while shrinking the company by 500% over the last few years & forcing the workforce to endure wave after wave of layoffs."
Former Employee - Product Management says"Most product lines of original designs discontinued. Virtually all entertainment licenses in past few years. Product line very stale and and un-innovated. Original CEO was an ego-driven compulsive exaggerator/liar. Current management more stable and reasonable."
Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) says"Opening store, banking, coaching sales associates, processing register as well as over the phone sales.great employee discount"
Main Cashier (Current Employee) says"It's a slow business, but many popular artists shop and do events for the store, especially for big toy releases. I learned more about artists and art galleries in the city. The management is good, they like to work with the employees to get new ideas for the store. The employers are awesome, very positive upbeat people. Most enjoyable part of the job is meeting new people everyday, and learning more about customers interests in the store."
Matt says"Horrible experience overall...I ordered 3 limited South Park keychains from them and waited weeks for them to be delivered. Upon arrival, I came to find out they send me 3 identical Marvel trinkets that had no relation to what I ordered. When I reached out to customer service, they took weeks to answer, and offered me no resolution - they automatically sent me a refund and told me goodbye. Didn’t even bother to look into how it happened. Makes me very weary. I’d never order from them again, and I’d suggested others don’t as well."
CianB says"DO NOT ORDER INTERNATIONALLY...
Their delivery time frames are astronomical. They send your order to another company so they don't have to deal with you and you'll be lucky if you see your order before two months is up. Still haven't received my order which I placed on the 1st November. (Currently 11th December).
Have ordered from many other places in America after the 1st and have received all of them. So no excuse.
Will not be spending any more of my money there."
Paul C says"Awful. USA based company that have an inability to process international orders efficiently. The account I created disappeared and they fobbed me off to their global shipping partner! 50/50 if I get my order. My advice - don’t buy from this company find a uk supplier."
